The invention concerns a dielectric waveguide (1), in particular one which is planar or essentially planar, with at least one dielectric structure (2) at least part of which consists of a material whose permeability or permeability tensor and/or permittivity or permittivity tensor can be changed by a magnetic field which penetrates at least parts of the structure (2). The waveguide also includes at least one means (6) for generating at least one magnetic field (9) by means of which the permeability tensor and/or the permittivity or permittivity tensor of at least parts of the structure (2) can be changed.
