A component for the seat or rest of a seat, comprises two plastic shell sections (1, 2), one of which is fixed to the seat or rest carrier (3), and the other of which has cushion material attached to it. The first shell section (1) has hooks (5) on its end face. The second shell section (2) has openings (9) which correspond to the hooks in the first section. The hooks are located in the openings and the eye sections (7, 8) of the two sections correspond so that a slider (11) can be passed through them.
