<p>This invention relates to a blood collection device (10) and method of use. The device (10) comprises a resilient cup (20) with a top (22) for receiving the patient's skin or finger. The top of the cup bunches or pinches the skin to increase its surface tension thereby providing a relatively painless piercing by a lancet (30) within the cup. The lancet (30) is supported by a bushing (32) to provide a true cut into the skin without movement of the lancet. The method comprises a safe, relatively painless procedure for collecting blood and transferring it to a test medium for diagnostic purposes.</p> |
