The sheet workpiece (10) is clamped tightly on a rotatable spindle. During rotation of the spindle at least one forming roller (30) is fed to the workpiece and the feed is controlled with dependence upon the angle of rotation of the spindle. An electrically controlled servo component is used for feed of the forming roller. It may be piloted by an electronic control unit in accordance with a prescribed programme.
