Spacer for multilayer insulating glazing

The spacer has a base element (5) with parallel resting surfaces (9,11), against which glass layers (1,3) may be laid, in order to form multilayer glazing. The element also has a bonding surface (19) which connects both resting surfaces, and which faces away from the interior of the glazing. The base element is made from a synthetic material, and a metal foil (21) is arranged on the bonding surface. The latter may have a cross-section which is roughly U-shaped, and the base element may be reinforced with glass fibres, and may also be in the form of a hollow profile.
