Alkenyl-substituted dicarboxylic acid or anhydride ester derivatives, useful as dispersant additives in lubricating oil compositions, having an alkenyl group derived from an atactic propylene oligomer substantially of formula (I), where n is in the range 15 to 120, having number average molecular weight (Mn) in the range 700 to 5000, and molar ratio dicarboxylic acid or anhydride moieties:atactic propylene oligomer in the range 1:1 to 2:1, and having an ester group derived from a polyol; a process for their preparation; and lubricating oil compositions and concentrates containing them.
