A sanitary towel or an incontinence pad has a covering layer (2) which is permeable by liquid, a rear side layer (3) which is non-permeable, and absorbent element (4) located between the two layer (2, 3). The invention features a pair of hydrophobic sections located along the opposite oblong side sections of an upper surface of the absorbent element. The hydrophobic sections lie inwards from each side edge of the absorbent element and feature a continuous or non-continuous anti-discharge groove, each formed along the oblong side sections. Also claimed is the method of prepn. of the sanitary towel or incontinence pad.
