In a process for buring fuel (5) consisting of free hydrocarbons and/or solid fuel in fine-grained to dust form, to attain as eddy-free a mixture of oxygen and fuel as possible, several streams (13) of fuel are blown on curving path in relation to the central longitudinal axis (2) of a cylindrical or slightly conical main stream (14) of oxygen or oxygen-containing gas widening in the direction of flow, said streams (13) of fuel being formed peripherally to surround the main stream (14), penetrating thereinto and sucked into said main stream.
