A decision feedback equalizer is provided, which includes a filtering part (11) for filtering an input signal (b1) by a tap counting signal (b9) output from a tap counter update part (18), a frequency mixer part (12) for mixing a carrier signal output from a frequency mixer part (15) with a mixed filter output signal (b2) and carrier signal (b6) output from a carrier restoring part (15) to output a base signal (b3), a signal discrimination part (13) for producing a discriminating signal (b4) from the output base signal (b3), a subtracting part (14) for producing a discrimination error signal (b5) as a difference signal between the output base signal (b3) and the discriminating signal (b4), a carrier restoring part (15) for producing the carrier signal (b6) in response to the input discrimination error signal (b5), a frequency mixer part (16) for mixing the carrier signal output from a frequency mixer part (15) with the discrimination error signal (b5) to output a difference signal (b7), an error arithmetic part (17) for producing a calibration error signal corresponding to the filter output signal (b2) and the error signal (b7), and a tap counter restoring part (18) for the tap counter signal (b9) to the filtering part (11) by restoring the tap counter value of the filtering part (11), wherein the tap counter restore is achieved by the constant modulus algorithm by means of the error arithmetic part (7), thereby improving the collection characteristics.
