<p>A washing method wherein washing is performed under such conditions that the pH value of the washing water is elevated after the hardness of the washing water has been lowered; a detergent composition which contains particles capable of retarding alkaline realization of the elevation of the pH value of the washing water after the addition of the same as compared with the lowering of the hardness of the washing water; and a detergent composition containing an alkaline agent coated with an organic or inorganic material the content of which amounts to at least 70 % by weight of the alkaline agents contained in the composition. The washing method and the detergent compositions each achieves an excellent detergency even at a low surfactant concentration, since washing is performed under such conditions that the pH value of the washing water is elevated after the hardness of the washing water has been lowered.</p> |
