DETERGENT COMPOSITIONS

There is provided a detergent composition suitable for use in laundry or dish washing methods comprising (a) a cationic ester surfactant; and (b) a hydrophobic organic peroxyacid bleaching system, capable of providing a hydrophobic organic peroxyacid compound. The cationic ester surfactant is preferably a quaternary ammonium compound where one of the alkyl chains is interrupted by an ester-type linkage. The bleaching system may comprise the peroxyacid itself or a precursor therefor.
