A service station is in radio contact with a mobile station via a switched exchange for exchange of digital data. The service station sends a broadcast message to the mobile station according to a predetermined data transmission protocol. The broadcast message includes coded information on the network operator of the mobile system. The data transmission protocol includes text elements and/or image elements relating to the network operator as coded information. These text and/or image elements are directly displayed by microprocessor control.
