Hydraulic turbine or pump with two counter-rotating rotors

The hydraulic turbine or pump has two counter-rotating rotors (R1,R2), without inlet or outlet guide vanes, and has two coaxial shafts which are not in contact, and which have the same or different rotation speeds. A rotor is arranged on each shaft, and has blades which are made pref. from twisted sheets of a synthetic material, and which are screwed, welded, or bonded into straight grooves in the rotor hub. The hydraulic machine is sealed from the atmosphere, and can work as a turbine with low and high heads, or can work in other operating conditions by simply cutting straight grooves in the hub at another angle, and by altering the shape of the blades. The rotor can be removed from its casing for inspection. The generated grid frequency can be held constant, regardless of head variations, by a simple load regulating system.
