The invention concerns an extruder (4) for components (2) with a cavity (26), in particular plastic components. The extruder has an internal cooling device (27) which is located downstream of the extrusion-nozzle slit (21) and which surrounds supply lines (29, 30) which pass down the centre (42) of the extruder (4), in particular in the vicinity of the nozzle slit (21), and terminate in the cavity (26) in the component (2), the supply lines being designed to supply a coolant (36) to the cavity (26) in the component (2). A heat exchanger (28) is fitted in the extruder at a certain distance from the nozzle slit (21) in the extrusion direction (arrow 5). The coolant (36) flows through the heat exchanger. Fitted in the cavity (26) in the component (2) is, in addition, a device (44) for circulating a cooling agent (46), in particular a gas.
