A branched epoxy-functional silicone polymer has the formula T(z-2)DxM'z (I) or QyDxM'(2y+2) (II) wherein T is a trifunctional silicone unit RSiO1.5, R being alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl; D is a difunctional silicone unit R2SiO; x is 0 or 1 or more; Q is a quadrifunctional silicate unit Si02; M' is a monofunctional silicone unit R'3SiO0.5 where R' is alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or an epoxy-contg. group provided that at least one group R' is an epoxy-contg. group; y = 1-4; z is at least 3. A method for preparing a polycarbonate having modified melt flow comprises adding a branched epoxy-modified silicone copolymer to a dihydric phenol, opt. in the presence of a solvent, adding a carbonate precursor and reacting, and recovering the modified polycarbonate. |
