The multiplication procedure involves two complex input magnitudes (a,b) which are to be multiplied to produce a complex output magnitude (c). Each of these numbers is made up of a real component and an imaginary component. In the first clock cycle, the real and imaginary components of the first magnitude are entered into a first adder, which produces a first intermediate result. This is then stored in a first memory. A second intermediate result is produced in a similar way from the real and imaginary components of the second magnitude. Both the intermediate results are then fed into a multiplier, which produces a third intermediate result, stored in a second memory. Further intermediary results are similarly produced and combined in subsequent clock cycles.
