Method for managing a communication between a facsimile document server and a facsimile device connected to a telephone receiver

The facsimile server (1) and the facsimile machine (2) are connected by a telephone line (11,12). The server is linked to the terminal by an operator who is presented with a voice menu of documents, the operator selecting one of the documents from the terminal before switching the line on to the facsimile machine. At the end of the document, the server transmits an 'end-of-document' signals (EOP, PRIEOP). The server also holds in memory a control (PRIEOP, DC) for chaining documents together. When the fax machine receives the end of document signal, it holds the communication line to the server using a line looping impedance (31), in order to be able to receive a new voice menu.
