<p>The absorber is attached to sleepers resting on ballast, consisting of a cylindrical metal active weight (12) which is connected to the foot (7) of the rail via a resilient outer covering (14) and a support (22). The resilient covering is made from a plastomer or elastomer material, continuous or in regularly-spaced rings, located between the outer surface of the weight and the inner surface of a channel in the support. The channel in the support is connected to its outer face by a slit (24) which can be closed by screws (25) which allow the noise absorber to be fixed in place and its resonance frequency to be adjusted. Two noise absorbers can be mounted on opposite sides of a rail or both on the same side of it.</p> |
