<p>The pulley for a transmission drive consists of a hub (11,21) and a crown wheel (15,25), connected by a bed (16,26) of a damping material. The hub is arranged to be connected to a shaft and the crown wheel is specially formed on its outer surface to cooperate with a pulley belt. The crown wheel (15,25) is made of sheet metal with a cross section in the form of a `U' whose interior and exterior wings (17,18;27,28) are generally parallel to the axis of the pulley. The interior wing (17,27) of the crown wheel is disposed around the exterior wing (13,23) of the hub and the gap between the two contains a bed of damping material (16,26) which is force fitted into the space between the two faces. The `U' section in the crown wheel (15,15) can be filled with lead (30) to increase its inertia.</p> |
