1,086,126. Flexible wing aircraft; parachutes; kites. D. C. JALBERT. July 27, 1965 [Oct. 1, 1964], No. 32091/65. Headings B7G and B7W. A flexible wing aircraft comprises upper and lower panels 5, 6 connected by flexible (e.g. textile) ribs 10 and stitched together at their edges, the wing having front and rear openings, the former being larger than the latter so that the relative wind keeps it inflated. The lower panel is plane and the upper panel cambered, the angle of the front opening 11, which is the inlet, depending on the amount by which the upper panel extends beyond the lower panel. Shroud lines are attached to wedges of textile material or battens attached to the lower panel along the connections with the ribs. The apparatus may be used to recover payloads from space, or to support an aerial above a ship.
