PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the usable life of a surface plate as well as to make it possible to polish plate glasses on the polishing surface of a surface plate with high flatness precision without causing any one-sided abrasion on the surface in contact with the plate glass and to positively feed the polishing surface with polishing slurry even when polishing is performed at high speed rotation. SOLUTION: Regarding a plate glass G polishing device provided with a sun gear 20, an internal gear 21, a carrier 22 rotating on its own axis as revolving round the sun gear 20, an upper surface plate 24 and a lower surface plate 25 vertically facing each other with the carrier 22 in between, and a feeding mechanism for feeding polishing slurry to the polishing surface 26, the upper surface plate 24 and the lower surface plate 25 respectively include polishing surfaces 26 on which a plurality of polishing whetstones 29, whose width dimensions are maximum in the area where the plate glass G rotation center pass and gradually becoming narrow towards the outside circumference and the inside circumference, are formed. |
