PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibacterial and antifungal agent for coating capable of solving usual defects by allowing to carry an antibacterial and antifungal metal or metal compound having less particle size on the surface of particles of a resin or a wax having a specific particle size by a mechanical force. SOLUTION: Onto the surface of particles of a resin or a wax having a specific particle size, fine particles of an antibacterial and antifungal metal or metal compound having less particle size than that of the resin or wax particles, e.g. 0.05-5μm, especially 0.2-2μm average particle size, are carried by a mechanical impact force or a mechanical stress. A coating agent is obtained by adding the antibacterial and antifungal agent to a varnish. The antibacterial and antifungal agent can be used for resin compositions such as coating materials, print ink compositions, etc., and films and other molded products. When carrying metal particles, e.g. an impact test in a high-speed flow can be used. In this method, it is preferable that the metal or metal compound particles are partly buried in the surface of the resin or wax particles or the resin and the wax are partly fused and adhered.
