<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the peak driving current of a thermal head and contrive to lengthen its life by a method wherein the remaining image data is processed in a latter half printing process when the number of black data of the image data transmitted to a head controller in a former half printing process exceeds the maximum member of black data. SOLUTION: In the controlling circuit of a thermal printer, a pixel controller 31, which counts the number of black data fed to a head controller 5 and transmits image data divided within one block into a former half printing process and a latter half printing process to the head controller, is provided. The pixel controller 31 latches the image data sent from a RAM 3 and decodes the image data and sums up the number of black data and, at the same time, the summed number of black data is compared with the maximum number of black data. When the summed number of black data exceeds the maximum number of black data in the former half printing process, the pixel controller feeds an interrupt signal, to a CPU 1, so as to execute the remaining image data in the latter half printing process.</p> |
