PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric vibrator which can be driven at a large amplitude and at low electric power and to obtain a vibration-type gyroscope using the vibrator. SOLUTION: When a polarization operation is executed to three-leg-type vibrator bodies 11, 12, 11 formed of a piezoelectric material, not only an electric field is applied across electrodes arranged on surfaces and rears 11a, 11b, 12a, 12b, but also a voltage is applied across electrodes 15a and 16a, electrodes 16c and 17a, electrodes 17a and 18a and electrodes 17c and 18c which are faced in the Y-direction. As a result, dielectric polarizations are formed not only on the surface but also in the Y-direction. As shown in (B) and (C), an AC driving voltage is given to the respective electrodes, the vibrator bodies 11, 12 are driven to the X-direction, and the vibrator bodies 11, 12 are vibrated and driven to the X-direction at a large amplitude due to a strain in dielectric polarization parts in the Y-direction. |
