<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a load and a switching element by controlling the switching element connected between a power supply circuit and the load using a detection signal of short circuit and/or open circuit of load thereby interrupting power supply to the load. SOLUTION: A short circuit detection signal from a short circuit detecting section 110 is latched by a latch 130 which delivers a pulse signal, being outputted periodically from a timer section 120, during the signal period thereof. A drive signal generating section 150 receives an open circuit detection signal and a short circuit detection signal from an open circuit detecting section 140 and the latch 130 and generates a drive signal for turning a switching element M1 on/off. A switching element drive section 160 receives the drive signal when short circuit or open circuit is detected and turns the switching element M1 off to interrupt power supply from a power supply circuit 100 to a load circuit 200. According to the arrangement, the circuit can be protected against both short circuit and open circuit.</p> |
