NON-PRIORITY CELL ABANDONING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize resources and to prevent a priority cell from being lost by decreasing/increasing a threshold value for abandoning a non- priority cell at the time of heavy/light load. SOLUTION: The number of cells flowing into an out line part 102 is counted by a counter 204, stored through a cell reader/writer 203 into a cell storage memory 202, read out when sending the cells from the line part 102, and transmitted from transmission terminal equipment 206. There is a non-priority cell abandon threshold value I in a processor 205 and that threshold value is set to a value L or H in advance. A number N of priority cells within a fixed time is counted by the counter 204. When the value N is larger than the first threshold value and the condition of I=H is established, the processor 205 changes the value I into L, increases non-priority cell abandonment and prevented the loss caused by priority cell buffer overflow. Besides, when the value N is smaller than the second threshold value smaller than the first threshold value and the condition of I=L is established, the processor 205 judges decrease in the number of priority cells to be applied, establishes the condition of I=H and suppresses the abandonment of non-priority cells.
