PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent antimicrobial performance by incorporating an antimicrobial metal powder of specified particle size by a specified amt. into a structure of a porous carbon in such a manner that the antimicrobial metal powder is dispersed and fixed in a uniformly exposed state on the structural face of the porous carbon. SOLUTION: An org. material essentially comprising α-cellulose such as rayon pulp by 60-90 pts.wt. and a water-soluble paper-making binder such as a coniferous pulp by 10-40 pts.wt. are dispersed in water to make a paper sheet. The produced sheet is dipped in a thermosetting resin soln. such as a phenol resin having >=40% residual carbon in which antimicrobial metal powder such as an Ag powder of 0.1-50μm particle size are dispersed, and then drawn up and rolled to remove an excess resin liquid to homogenize the sheet. Then the paper sheet is kept at about 50-150 deg.C to render the sheet as a half hardened state. Plural sheets are heated and compressed on a uniform heater plate to obtain a laminated body, and the laminated body is baked and carbonized at 800-2000 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere such as N2 . Thus, an antimicrobial porous carbon material in which 5-20wt.% antimicrobial metal powder is dispersed and fixed in a uniformly exposed state on the structural face of the carbon material can be obtd. |
