摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject copolymer having a super-high molecular weight achieved in a short time and at a low cost and useful as a reinforcing fiber for various rubber products or useful for various products for an industrial use by copolymerizing terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol with a specific amino group-containing compound. SOLUTION: This copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing (A) terephthalic acid and (B) ethylene glycol with (C) a compound of the formula H2 NA<1> COOR<1> (A<1> is a 6-12C aromatic hydrocarbon; R<1> is H or a 1-3C alkyl) or a compound of the formula H2 NA<2> CONHCH2 COOR<2> (A<2> is A<1> ; R<2> is R<1> ) [e.g. p- or m- aminobenzoic acid (methyl or ethyl), or p- or m-aminohippuric acid (methyl or ethyl)], and has a weight average molecular weight of >=10×10<4> . Further, the component C is used preferably at a ratio of 0.5-30mol%, especially 0.5-20mol% based on the component A unit.
