PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the continuity of a picture element to which feature extraction processing in a perpendicular direction is applied to more easily extract a pupil edge in the perpendicular direction, and to improve line-of-sight detecting accuracy. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a storage means RAM storing the photoelectric conversion signals of one or more lines outputted time- sequentially every line from a photodetector means 4, and a control means 5 changing the number of storage lines in accordance with the number of signals of one line stored in the storage means. By changing the number of lines stored in the RAM of a microcomputer, that is, the number of picture elements being the object to be processed in the perpendicular direction in accordance with the number of signals of one line in a two-dimensional sensor area being the feature extraction processing object in the detection of the line of sight, the number of picture elements to which the feature extraction processing in the perpendicular direction is performed is increased. |
