PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional recording medium having the large recording density and the recording/reproducing apparatus of the medium. SOLUTION: An optically transparent cylindrical material is provided. The focal point of an optical beam is focused at an arbitrary position in the inside of the material. Physical change is generated at the light condensing part of the above described material by the thermal energy of the condensed light of the optical beam. Thus, a three-dimensional medium 1 for recording information is formed. The above described medium includes the medium formed of magneto-optical type recording material or phase-changing type recording material. Furthermore, the recording/reproducing apparatus is provided by constituting a unitary body comprising a recording optical system 2, which condenses the light at an arbitrary position in the three-dimensional recording medium, a reproducing optical system 3, which receives laser light L2 emitted from the recording optical system and passed through a recording point P, a bias optical system 4, which applies thermal energy for biasing on the above described light condensing position, and a magnet 51 for applying the electric field on the above described light condensing position. Furthermore, the recording/reproducing mechanism and the three-dimensional recording medium 1 constituted as the above described unitary body can be relatively moved. |
