PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glycerophosphate dehydrogenase inhibitor which has excellent inhibitory effect on glycerophosphate dehydrogenase, is readily added to food products with high safety and useful in prevention and therapy for obesity. SOLUTION: This inhibitor contains, as an active ingredient, a triterpene of formula I or formula II (R<1> is OH, OC(O)-CH3 ; R<2> -R<4> are each, H, methyl, methylol, carboxyl or the like; R<5> -R<8> are each H, methyl; R<9> is hydroxyl, acetoxy; R<10> -R<12> are each H, methyl, methylol, carboxyl and aldehyde) or its acetylated product. In the case of oral administration, the concentration of the active ingredient is set to 0.3-15wt.%, while in the case of parenteral administration, the concentration is set to 0.01-10wt.%. The daily dose is 0.5-5,000mg/ adult or 0.5-3,000mg child based on the active ingredient. As an active ingredient, oleanolic acid, ursonic acid, uvaol, hederagenin, betulin and their salts and their acetylated products are cited. |
