<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a rack shaft from being rotated by torque given from both a manual steering power inputting part and an electric power steering inputting part by making the torque, which is imposed from electric auxiliary steering power inputting part onto a rack shaft, and the torque, which is im posed from a manual steering power inputting part onto the rack shaft, act in the reverse direction. SOLUTION: Manual steering power is inputted after a pinion shaft 10 is rotated and this rotation is converted into axial movement of a rack shaft 20 by means of a rack-pinion mechanism 17. On the other hand, power assistance is achieved when a ball screw nut 50 is rotated around the rack shaft 20 by means of the rotation of an output shaft 66 of an electric motor 42 via a pair of bevel gears 70, 72, so that the rack shaft 20 is moved in the axial direction by the action of a ball-nut mechanism. With this, the rack shaft 20 will not rotate even if the manual steering power and auxiliary steering power act on the rack shaft 20.</p> |
