PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extremely reliable electrophotographic image forming device and a method therefor by optimizing the layer constitution of a photoreceptor, the forming state of a surface layer and the condition of a cleaning blade abutting on the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In a blade cleaning system image forming device using a electrophotographic photoreceptor constituted by laminating an intermediate layer and a photoreceptive layer on a conductive supporting body, an intermediate layer coating area and the abutting area of the cleaning blade are wider than the photo-receptive layer coating area of the electrophotographic photo- receptor and at least a part of the abutting area of the cleaning blade out of the photoreceptive layer coating area is constituted so that the intermediate layer exists between the cleaning blade and the conductive supporting body.
