<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoding method and a decoder circuit capable of apparently removing decoding time, smoothly displaying image without delaying the image display or the like and accessing data directly decoded from a program cartridge. SOLUTION: The decoder circuit 23 is provided with a through mode for outputting inputted data as they are and a decoding mode for decoding inputted compressed data and outputting the decoded data and data are accessed from a ROM 20 through the circuit 23. In the case of accessing compressed data, the circuit 23 is turned to be in the decoding mode, a prescribed quantity of data is accessed from the circuit 23, and then the decoding mode of the circuit 23 is reset and returned to the through mode.</p> |
