PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATV or DVB signal recording/reproducing device which is constituted with only one ECC circuit and reduces the load of hardware by mapping data in a track reproduction data area with prescribed number of sync blocks having SD-ECC structure as reference blocks on trick reproduction data in the same way as normal reproduction data. SOLUTION: ECC structure is constituted by the prescribed number of sync blocks whose number of normal and trick reproduction data areas is an integral multiple of '5'. An external error correction encoding part 110 external error- corrects and encodes normal reproduction data supplied in the unit of the reference blocks made by five sink blocks from a first formatting part 102. Extraction parts 106 and 108 extract five fold and fifteen fold track reproduction data and a second external error correction encoding part 110 adds an external parity. An internal error correction encoding part 116 adds an internal parity through an assembling part 114. Thus, recording and reproduction can be executed without a trick reproduction-only ECC circuit.
