PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display panel in which the display quality is improved and flickers on a display screen when the power source is turned off and then immediately turned on are decreased. SOLUTION: Plural first transparent electrodes 8 and an orienting film 11 are formed on a transparent substrate 1, while plural second transparent electrodes 9 and an orienting film 11 are formed on a transparent substrate 2. The transparent substrate 1 and the transparent substrate 2 are disposed with the orienting films 11 facing each other in such a manner that the plural first transparent electrodes 8 and the plural second transparent electrodes 9 are perpendicular to each other. A liquid crystal layer 13 is held between the orienting films 11 to constitute a liquid crystal display panel. In this panel, the dielectric anisotropyΔεof the liquid crystal layer 13 satisfies 4.0<Δε<6.4, and moreover, the orienting films 11 have no trifluoromethyl group.
