FIELD: chemically modified cellulose fibers. SUBSTANCE: tendency of cellulose solution-spinning fibers to fibrillation is reduced by treating preliminarily dried fibers with a chemical containing at least two functional groups reactive to cellulose, which are either groups containing electrophilic carbon-carbon double bonds, in particular, vinylsulfonic groups or their precursors, or electrophilic heterocycles or their precursors. Chemical reagents utilized are preferably colorless and applied onto fibers from aqueous solution. Fibers may be incorporated into fabrics or knit cloth. EFFECT: reduced fibrillation. |
