摘要 FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacturing clay objects and can be employed to fabricate light-weight structural units, for instance, bricks, based on clay-vermiculite mixes. Clay is preliminarily disintegrated into fraction with particle size not greater than 10 mcm. Vermiculite is bloated at temperature of order of 600 C, and particles not greater than 3 mcm are screened off. Vermiculite and clay are mixed in weight ratio from 1:1 to 1:19. Mix is treated with water to moisture content 31-38%. Desired object is shaped in wet state and then heat treated within temperature range from temperature when clay begins to be dehydroxylated to its vitrification temperature. Shaped and fired object is characterized with high porosity and apparent density lower than or comparable with water density. Object also possesses sorption capacity in respect to metal ions comparable with that in wide-spread sorbents. For instance, adsorption of chromium and copper ions is 80-90% with sorbent/solution relationship 1:(1000-1500), pH 6-7.5, and initial concentration of chromium 1.61 mg/cu.dm and copper 1.48 mg/cu.dm under conditions of static equilibrium adsorption.
