<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ignition coil excellent in heat resistance and durability suitable for an engine operating under severe temperature environment by employing methylphenyl silicon oil as an insulator. SOLUTION: The ignition coil 1 comprises a core 11, a primary coil bobbin 12 to be mounted thereon, an ignition coil body 10 including a primary coil 13, a secondary coil bobbin 14, and a secondary coil 15, and a case 20 for the ignition coil body 10. The space within the case 20 containing the ignition coil body 10 is filled with an insulator 30, i.e., a mixture of methylphenyl silicon oil and sulfur hexafluoride. The insulator 30 filling the case 20 exists in gas phase 31 principally comprising sulfur hexafluoride and in liquid phase 32 principally comprising methylphenyl silicon oil. The primary and secondary coil parts 13, 15 are filled with the liquid phase 32.</p> |
