PRODUCTION OF CONTACT LENS AND RESIN MOLD USED FOR THE CONTACT LENS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a contact lens which has excellent optical characteristics, does not damage the cornea and has a smooth surface and edge by providing an edge R for forming the edge shape of the contact lens to the part of a male mold for regulating the outer periphery of the lens. SOLUTION: The male mold of a resin type for producing the contact lens is composed of a BC optical face 1 of a convex shape forming BC when the resin is molded to a contact lens shape, a contact surface 2 of a type to come into contact with the molds at the time of combining the molds after a polymerizable monomer is packed in the molds and an attachment 3 at the time of mounting the molds to a lathe for cutting the lens after the polymn. The resin molds provided with the edge R for forming the edge shape of the contact lens in the part of the male mold for regulating the outer periphery of the lens are used. The edge part of a base curve side is formed by the transfer of the edges R. The edges on the front curving side are formed by cutting with the lathe.
