PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve following-up performance in focusing for a subject without decreasing photographing speed at the time of consecutive photographing by performing only focus detecting operation again in the case a focus detection control means judges that the result of focus detection is improper. SOLUTION: A focus detector 6 is constituted of a field lens 6a arranged near an image formation surface, reflection mirrors 6b and 6c, a secondary image formation lens 6d, a diaphragm 6e and a line sensor 6f consisting of plural CCDs. In the case of judging that the result of the focus detection is improper, a warning is given by flickering the focusing mark of an LCD 24 within a finder. In such a case, the line of sight is not detected and only the focus detection is repeated in a fixed focus detection area. Next, the focus detection is performed in the focus detection area selected out of plural focus detection areas by detecting the line of sight. Then a corrected defocusing amount is converted into a lens driving amount and the converted value is transmitted to a focusing circuit 110, whereby the lens is driven. |
