PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an area guide understandable and to surely guide by altering the form of the guide based on the acquired area information and the comparison result of the area information with a guide branching point to be guided next. SOLUTION: When the program of a route guide system is started by the CPU 51 of a central processing unit 4, the current position is detected by a current position detector 2, the peripheral map is displayed at the current position as a center, and the name of the current position is displayed. Then, the destination is set by using the place name, a target name such as a facility name, a telephone number, an address and a registered point, and route searching from the current position to the destination is conducted. When the route is decided, the route guide and display are repeated until the vehicle arrives at the current position. The form of the guide is altered based on the comparison result of the area information obtained at this stage and the area information of the object branching point to be guided next. |
