<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress a picture of 4:1:1 or 4:2:0 to record and reproduce it in two channels with a low cost by bisecting data and compressing data with two systems to record it. SOLUTION: In first and second compression parts 14B-1 and 14B-2, circuits 20B and 22B for insertion of a dummy DTC block are added to conventional compression parts. As 2n (n is a natural number) systems of compression means are used, an input picture whose ratio of sampling frequencies is expressed by 4:2:2 is divided into two within the picture in the unit of DCT blocks, and four DCT blocks in total of two DCT blocks of the Y signal, one DCT block of the Cr signal, and one DCT block of the Cb signal are taken as a unit, and two dummy DCT blocks are added, and they are allowed to correspond to macro blocks of the input signal expressed by 4:1:1 or 4:2:0, and n-channel compression is performed. The input picture whose ratio of sampling frequencies is expressed by 4:1:1 or 4:2:0 is subjected to two-channel compression by respective compression means.</p> |
