PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation in contrast by improving an opening rate and preventing the disturbance in liquid crystal orientation at the ends of light shielding films. SOLUTION: Gate electrodes 3 are formed of transparent conductive films 3a and metallic films 3b. Material light shielding films 11 are formed at the outer peripheral edges of pixel electrodes 2. Gate insulating films 4 are formed thereon and (i) type a-Si layers 5 and n<+> type a-Si layers 6 are formed on the gate electrodes 3. Source electrodes 8 connected to the pixel electrodes 2 and drain electrodes 7 connected to signal lines 13 are formed on the n<+> type a-Si layers 6. Org. light shielding films 9 having openings are formed on the pixel electrodes 2 via insulating films 10 thereon. The opening ends of the org. light shielding films 9 are set on the metallic light shielding films 11. |
