PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain scanning with plural beams by using a cylinder lens, a rotating polygon mirror and an Fθlens having nearly the same size as in the case of scanning with one beam by providing a relay lens behind a coupling lens. SOLUTION: The relay lens 3 is provided between the coupling lens 2 and the rotating polygon mirror 5. Plural light beams emitted from a light source 1 constituted of a semiconductor laser array are collimated by the coupling lens 2, made parallel beams by the relay lens 3, and pass through the lens 4, and only the beam in a vertical scanning direction onto the mirror 5 is made to pass through a stopped-down aperture. Thereafter, the beams are deflected by the mirror 5 to perform scanning, and converged on a photoreceptor 7 by the Fθlens 6. The plural beams cross on the surface of the mirror 5, and the diameter of the beam can be set to optional size, and multibeam laser scanner is realized by using the cylinder lens, the rotating polygon mirror and the Fθlens having nearly the same size as in the case of scanning with one beam.
