PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make good recording and reading out of information possible even by irradiation from a transparent film side by forming a reflection film by ion beam sputtering on a substrate formed with fine ruggedness and depositing a transparent film thereon. SOLUTION: The fine ruggedness 2, such as pits for data and grooves for tracking, etc., is formed on the main surface of a disk-shaped substrate 1 no matter the substrate is transparent or not. The reflection film 13 is formed therein by, for example, ion beam sputtering of Al in particular, by which the information recording layer 15 is constituted. The transparent film 14 as a protective film of a small thickness is deposited on this recording layer 15. Such optical recording medium, i.e., optical disk 10, is subjected to reading out of the recorded information by the fine ruggedness 2 of the information recording layer 15 with its transparent film 14 side as a photoirradiated surface, i.e., a photoirradiated surface by a semiconductor laser beam L. |
