Transition metal complexes represented by general formula (1); a catalyst for olefin polymerization containing the transition metal complex; and a process for producing olefin polymers by using the catalyst, wherein M represents a transition metal atom of the group (4) in the periodic table; Cp represents a group having a cyclopentadiene anion skeleton; A and G may be the same or different and each represents a divalent residue having an atom of group (15 or 16) in the periodic table; X<1>, X<2>, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> each independently represents hydrogen, halogeno, optionally halogenated alkyl, etc., and R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, and R<4> may be bonded arbitrarily to thereby form a ring; L represents a Lewis base; and w is an integer of 0 to 2.
