<p>An apparatus (10) for producing a garment with a raised barrier formed of ribbon material. The apparatus (10) includes a conveyor (78) for carrying garment material (15) in the direction along a flow path (12). A ribbon storage (25a, b) provides elongate ribbon (18, 19) for application to the garment material (15) to form the barrier. A ribbon feeder (80) having a feeder head (88a) moves across the flow path (12) to apply the ribbon (18, 19) to the material (15) on the conveyor (28b) in a curved contour. An adhesive applicator (58) applies adhesive along one edge of the ribbon (18, 19) such that the resulting free edge of the ribbon may form a raised barrier on the finished garment.</p> |
