The device comprises a drive rod on which are mounted centring rollers, and a widening element whose drive shaft is connected to the drive rod. A series of cam sleeves (7) capable of rotating about the longitudinal axis (10) of the drive shaft (4), together with an end sleeve, are fitted on the drive shaft (4). Conical rollers (51, 52) are mounted one after the other on the appropriate sleeves (7), and an end roller is fitted on the end sleeve. The rollers (51, 52) can rotate about the sleeves (7). Support roller bearings (11) are provided between the end faces of adjacent rollers (51, 52) together with end-face seals (12) covering the roller bearings (11) and situated between the end faces of adjacent cam sleeves (7).
