<p>A composition for separating serum or plasma which comprises a cyclopentadiene oligomer, an organic gelling agent and a dispersant for the organic gelling agent. The organic gelling agent is a condensation product of sorbitol with an aromatic aldehyde. The dispersant is a polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene block copolymer having an HLB of 1.0 to 9.0. The composition makes it possible to prevent the evolution of any offensive odor due to radiation sterilization, clears away any effects of serum or plasma on biochemical test data caused by hemolysis, etc., does not undergo the phase separation of the components and yet sustains a good ability to separate serum or plasma, a high storage stability, etc., comparable to the conventional ones. In addition, the composition flows little when laid and stored and scarcely causes any reversion of the order of separation with the passage of time.</p> |
